Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Jayanti is birth date of founder of the Maratha Empire . It is mostly celebrated in Maharashtra and public holiday is declared on Shivaji Maharaj Jayanti .

History

Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj was named as Shivaji Bhosale and was member of the Bhonsale Maratha Clan . He was born at Shivneri Fort on the Marathi Shalivahana as per Hindu calendar Falgun Krishna paksha 3 in 1630. He is known is known to be one of the greatest Maratha rulers who can enclaved from the Adilshahi sultanate of Bijapur that marks the beginning of Maratha Empire. He is one of the best ruler of that time wo saved thousands of people from culture of going slaves .
